It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert E. Thacker, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world peacefully on July 22, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on October 8, 1951, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Robert lived a life filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories.
A devoted family man, Robert found immense joy in the presence of his grandchildren-Lexur, Drew, Cailey, Logan, and Keira-who brightened his days and filled his heart with pride. As a great-grandfather, he took delight in watching Meadow, Jasper, and Trent grow, cementing a legacy of love that will forever be remembered.
Robert's career journey began in his family's Day Heights Supermarket, where he worked alongside his parents and learned the value of hard work and community. His time as a butcher at Kroger honed skills that made him the family grill master, known for creating delicious meals that brought everyone together. He spent time as an OTR trucker, relishing the open road. Later he worked for the Adam's Brown Recycling as an office manager.
In addition to his work, Robert embraced life with a twinkle in his eye and a joke always at the ready. He loved playing billiards, hitting the golf course, and casting a line while fishing. His passion for gardening allowed him to cultivate beauty in and around his home, and his love for Coca-Cola became a jovial trademark among his family and friends.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry Thacker; daughter Crystal (Scott) Darling; son Tony (Tiffany) Slachetka; sister Connie Bacon; and his adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A reflection of Robert's warm spirit will be celebrated in a memorial service to be held on August 1, at Life Change Church, at 2:00. Friends and family are invited to join together to share stories, laughter, and memories that highlight the impact Robert had on all our lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Robert's memory to Cancer Research, and the National Diabetes Association. Showing his compassion to help others and the community he loved.
Though he may no longer be with us, the legacy that Robert E. Thacker leaves behind will forever resonate in the hearts of those he touched.
