Rodger Albert Bauer passed away peacefully with family by his side on Monday February the 3rd 2025 at the age of 80. He was born December 11th, 1944 in Mariemont Ohio, the son of John W. and Catherine A Bauer. He was the second oldest out of 14 children.
In 1967 Rodger married Lynn Koerner and welcomed their first child Sheryl Erion the following year. They had seven more children: Michael, Shannon Athey (Mike), Eric, Hospital Corpsman First Class Jassen (Makoto), Army Specialist Joseph (Misty), John and Mark. In 1990 Rodger bonded with Jeannie Miller, they had five children: Stephanie Enslin (Jeff), Marie, Josh, Clair, and Beverly.
He was blessed with 9 grandchildren: Angelae (Trevor) Thompson, Daniel Erion, David Erion, Alysha Collins, Juna Bauer, Joe Bauer, Riley Enslin, Alexander Enslin, and a great grandchild Aurora Thompson.
He was the brother of John E. (Mary Ellen) Bauer, Dan (Bonna) Bauer, Joe (Carol) Bauer, Fred Bauer (Marlene), Mary (Butch) Mitchell, Sr. Cathy Bauer OSB, Carl Bauer (Linda), Tom (Barb) Bauer, Christina (Joe) Stamper, Greg (Lisa) Bauer, David (Debbie) Bauer, Saul (Tammy) Bauer, Regina (Blaine) Scarberry.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Catherine Bauer, his brother John E. Bauer and his son Army Specialist Joseph Bauer. His two sisters-in-law, Marlene Bauer and Linda Bauer.
Rodger was a loving father who did his best to keep his family close and prayerful. One of his sons said, "If Dad had it his way all his children would still be living at home with him." His daughter said, "He was such a loving father that all you had to do was whimper and he was right there. He would do anything for his kids." At the end, when he whimpered, we were all there for him. He lived a very spiritual life and had a great devotion to Our Lady, Mary. In his youth he studied to be a priest at Sacred Heart Seminary and even though he never realized that dream he served God the rest of his life. He always had his eyes focused on God and made sure that those around him did as well.
A Celebration of Life is planned in memory of Rodger at Sycamore Park in Batavia Ohio on Sunday, May 18th during the hours of 1pm-4pm.
All who knew Rodger are welcome to participate.
It will be a potluck affair. Also it would be advisable to bring lawn chairs to assure there is adequate seating.
Currently there is a private Catholic Mass being planned for family members only. Date and time yet to be determined.
