Rodney "Rod" Prather, 69, passed away unexpectedly on June 25th, 2026. He was born on January 4th, 1957, and lived a life defined by family, craftsmanship, and a passion for the automotive world.
Rod was the beloved husband of Jeannine Roll and the devoted father of Rodney "Jay" Prather II (Brittany). He is the cherished son of Bob Prather and the late Rosemary Prather. Rod was the loving brother to Jack Prather (Linda), Kenny Prather (Jenny), and Jeff Prather (Terra), as well as the uncle to several nieces and nephews. Rod was also the proud grandfather to Ava Prather, who brought immeasurable joy to this life.
Rod was a loyal graduate of Norwood High School, class of 1976. He enjoyed spending time with fellow alumni over the years and always took part in planning several formal reunions.
In 2023, Rod retired from the automotive body shop industry after dedicating nearly 50 combined years across several body shop locations. In addition, Rod possessed a natural talent for custom cars and motorcycle fabrication as a hobby and passion. His skill, creativity, and attention to detail earned him the respect of many throughout the car show community. He took great pride in his work and found joy in sharing his passion with others.
Rod loved attending car shows with his wife Jeannine, and his son, Jay, whenever he had the opportunity. Whether showcasing a project, admiring the work of fellow enthusiasts, or simply enjoying the friendship within the automotive community, those moments were among his favorites.
Above all else, Rod loved his family. He was a devoted grandfather who rarely missed an opportunity to watch Ava compete on the field or the court. His unwavering support, presence, and encouragement meant the world to her. He always made family a priority and treasured the time spent with those he loved.
Known for his kind heart, infectious smile, and appreciation for life's simple pleasures- including never turning down a sweet treat- Rod touched the lives of many and leaves behind countless memories that will be cherished forever.
