Ronald “Ron” Glenn Ellison, age 86, of Milford, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Ron was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
Born on May 13, 1938, in Hillsboro, Ohio, Ron was the son of the late Ernest Glenn and Mildred Pauline (Jones) Ellison. He was the beloved husband of 58 years to Paula “Polly” (nee Wood), with whom he shared a lifetime of love and laughter.
Ron was a proud father to Julie (Andrew) Winner, Kathy (Dave) Andrews, Glenn Ellison, and Susan (Rob) Schemmel. He found immense joy in his role as a grandfather to Elizabeth (Logan), Katie, Hannah (Matt), Michael, Emily, Danielle, Meghan, Jacob, Chas, Carter, and Olivia, and as a great-grandfather to Sawyer, Hudson, and Lucy. He is survived by his siblings Verna Kaiser, David (Debbie) Ellison, Beckie Dehner, and many nieces and nephews; he was preceded in death by his brother John Ellison.
A 1962 graduate of The Ohio State University, Ron earned a degree in Industrial Engineering. He began his career with General Motors’ Turnsted Division in Columbus, Ohio, before joining The Kroger Co. in 1969, where he worked in the manufacturing division as an Industrial Engineer. Ron was a dedicated member of Kiwanis for 50 years, serving in various roles over the years, including two terms as president. In honor of his contributions—particularly his efforts in establishing and overseeing the scholarship program—a scholarship has been created in his name.
Ron was a lifelong Ohio State Buckeyes fan, faithfully attending home games with Polly to cheer on his team. He was a devout Christian who had a deep love for music and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Above all, Ron cherished time spent with his family, where his laughter, warmth, and presence brought joy to every gathering. Ron’s enduring legacy is one of love, devotion, and kindness, which will continue to inspire and live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
