Marquette, MI - Ronald J. Gartner, 82, of Marquette MI, passed away Wednesday afternoon, September 11, 2019 at Central Parke Alzheimer's Care in Mason, OH, surrounded by loving family. Ron was born April 2, 1937 in Cincinnati, Ohio, a son of the late Joseph Gartner and Mary (Liz) Holmes Gartner. He was a graduate of Elder High School in Cincinnati.
On June 14, 1958 Ron married Barbara A. McNally at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Cincinnati. Ron moved his family to Marquette MI in 1979 where he was employed. He spent his career in management of electrical supply companies and then transitioned into direct sales for an oil company until he experienced a severe car accident when he was in his early 50's.
His hobbies and interests included coaching Little League Baseball teams for 30+ years and teaching catechism classes at the local Catholic Church.
Survivors include his sister Carol Bain, sister Maureen Taylor, brother Dan (Trish) Gartner, seven children, David (Lisa) Gartner of Prescott, AZ, Elizabeth (Robert) Howe of Marquette, MI, Kathleen Phillips of Maineville, OH, William (Tara) Gartner of Escanaba, MI, Margaret (Scott) Doerflein of Cincinnati, OH, Jeannine (Frank) Moore of Wake Forest, NC, and Lawrence Gartner of San Diego, CA, 17 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding him in death, besides his parents, Barbara A. Gartner (wife of 59 years), Kenneth Bain (brother-in-law), Arnie Taylor (brother-in-law), Enika Gartner (daughter-in-law), and Kenneth Phillips (son-in-law).
The Gartner family will greet family and friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on September 22 at Evans Funeral Home, 741 Center St., Milford,OH. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday September 23 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Milford, OH.
