Ruth Charleen (nee Slayton/Sartorius) Elliott beloved wife of the late Kenneth C. Elliott; loving mama of Rickey Joe (Patsy) Newberry, Renae (Chet) Newberry Chaffin, Mia Lynn (Steve) Elliott Supe and Curtis "Bobby" (Aurora) Elliott; stepmom of Zane Elliott, Kenneth Elliott and Helen Elliott Nelson; cherished mamaw or grandma of Michelle (Ron) Blair, Sean (Melissa) Haulsey, Christy (David) Evans Buller, Brandy (Shawn) Evans Bartley, Austin Smith, Holly (Eric) Supe Isaacs, Nicholas (Ashley) Supe, Tanner (Miranda) Supe, Lori (Bob) Martinez Krigbaum, Heather (Mike) Elliott Petty, Brandon Elliott, Greg (Amy) Elliott, Kenny (Mary) Nelson and Jamie Nelson; also 28 great grandchildren; dear sister of Rose Marie Rusnick and Marilyn Stewart; bonus mom to Gloria (John) Gomez Brown and bonus mamaw to Nikki, Daniella, Roberto and Sam; and a host of foster children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Slayton and Charlotte (nee Parmentier) Urbanek; and siblings, Juraine Bailey, Lowell Sartorius and Vernon Sartorius. Ruth was born on August 5, 1934 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She grew up in Deer Park, Ohio and then Sardinia, Ohio. Ruth went home to be with the Lord on November 11, 2022. Age 88. She was a 50 plus year resident of Summerside, a small community in the Eastgate area of Clermont County. Her gardens were always the prettiest on the street. She was a proud Soldier Mother and was very involved with Military Support. Ruth was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Glen Este, at one time she was the Sunday School Superintendent and held other positions in the church over the years.
Ruth and her late husband Kenneth Elliott were the owners of the Glen Este Union 76 Station in the 1970's and 1980's. They were long-time friends with the local dirt track racing teams and loved their race cars. Ruth retired as the Director of Continuum through Lighthouse Youth Services. She began her career as a Foster Parent, became the assistant director and then the director. She was also a licensed Social Worker and was responsible for helping hundreds of children in the Greater Cincinnati area. Ruth was presented the Keys to the City in the 1980's by Mayor Roxanne Qualls for all of her work with foster care and under privileged youth.
Ruth was invited to share her Foster Care Program all across America. She met with local and state representatives, as well as, a handful of US Senators. She could hold her own in any arena. Ruth continued in her later years helping young mothers be their very best. Many of these women and her foster kids would continue to call and visit Ruth.
Ruth loved and honored her Lord and Savior every day. Known to her family as our Prayer Warrior. She adored her family and her mission was to make God known to all.
Visitation will be held at the Evans Funeral Home 741 Center St., Milford, OH 45150 on Tuesday November 15, 2022 from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. with funeral service at 10:00 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Brown Chapel Cemetery in Mt Orab, Ohio. Memorial donations may be given in Ruth's name for the Christmas Fund to Lighthouse Youth & Family Services, 401 E.
