August 23, 1941 — July 25, 2025

Sandra "Sandy" Ann Fender, a devoted wife, beloved sister, cherished aunt and lifelong friend and educator passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, at the age of 83.

Born on August 23, 1941, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Sandy was the daughter of Edward B. Spang and Jeanette Stewart Spang. She was preceded in death by her parents, her older sister Caroline, and her brother E. Bruce Spang.

Sandy's passion for learning and teaching shaped both her life and the lives of countless students. She graduated from the University of Toldeo and went on to earn her Masters in Education from Miami University. Her 37 year career in elementary education - most of it spent at Fairfax Elementary School in Mariemont School System - was marked by dedication, warmth and a deep commitment to her students. She retired in 2000, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and excellence in teaching.

For over 60 years, Sandy shared her life with her devoted husband, Donald. Together they found joy in travel, eventually making Panama City Beach, Florida a second home. Whether exploring new places or spending time with family, Sandy's warmth and enthusiasm were ever-present.

Sandy is survived by her loving husband Donald, her sister Joyce Wilson and many nieces and nephews who brought her great joy; Kirsten Rosser, Art Rosser, Karen Wilson, Jason Spang, Brent Spang, Todd Spang, Becky Heinzeroth, and Tony St. Aubin.

In honor of Sandy's life and generous spirit, contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Ohio in lieu of flowers.
