Shirley Ann Garner, a beloved member of the Goshen, Ohio community, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on June 18, 1937, in Goshen, Shirley was known for her infectious spirit, giving heart, and unwavering faith.


A devoted wife to her beloved husband, Virgil Garner, and a cherished mother to their sons, Mike, Melvin (Jann), Danny and Darrell (Tammie), a cherished grandmother to Sara, Aaron, Ryan, Ashlee, Derrick, Jeremy and Tabitha and 9 great-grandchildren. Shirley's life was anchored in love and family. Shirley is also survived by her siblings Jim, Joe, Darlene and Bitsy. She held her family gatherings dear, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere where laughter and love flourished. Her home was often filled with the delightful aroma of her homemade cookies, which she loved to bake with joy and care.


Shirley was an avid gardener, often tending to her yard and nurturing her flowerbeds with an unwavering passion. Her green thumb transformed her garden into a vibrant tapestry of colors, reflecting the beauty she brought into the lives of those around her. She found peace in nature and joy in sharing her garden with others.


Faith played a central role in Shirley's life. She attended church regularly and served her community with a generous spirit. She never missed a Sunday service unless she was unwell, demonstrating her dedication to her beliefs and her love for her church family.


In addition to her many interests, Shirley enjoyed the art of crochet, creating handmade treasures that brought warmth and comfort to her loved ones. Her gentle hands and compassionate soul were a testament to her generous nature, as she often sacrificed her time to help others in need.


Shirley's memory will be celebrated during funeral services that will take place at Evans Funeral Home in Goshen on February 10, 2025. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by the service at 12:00 PM. Following the service, Shirley will be laid to rest in Goshen Cemetery where her spirit will continue to bloom like the flowers she cherished.


As we reflect on Shirley's life, we remember her kindness, her laughter, and the profound impact she had on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in our hearts.


Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Eva Hutchinson, her brothers David and Roger and her grandson Chad.
