Shirley Philpot

November 16, 1943 — January 8, 2026

Shirley Ann Philpot, beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, at her home in Cincinnati, Ohio, at the age of 82. Born on November 16, 1943, in Brookside Kentucky, Shirley spent her life nurturing her family and community with love, kindness, and an unwavering faith.

As a devoted homemaker, Shirley touched the lives of many with her culinary talents. Known for her exceptional chicken and dumplings, rich peanut butter fudge, and warm biscuits and gravy, she held a special place in the hearts (and stomachs) of all who had the pleasure of enjoying her meals. A true "neighborhood mom," she opened her home and heart to countless children, offering them guidance and support as they navigated the complexities of growing up.

Shirley's deep faith was a cornerstone of her life. An avid reader of the Bible, she found great solace and strength in her relationship with God. Her commitment to her church and community at Full Gospel Pentecostal Chuch in Latonia, Kentucky was unwavering; she dedicated her life to helping others find their own paths to Christ.

Shirley is survived by her loving children: Debbie Miles, Teresa Nickum, Penny (Paul) Brownstead, Edward Philpot, Junior (Patty) Philpot, and Lisa (Gary) Crowe, and Garry Unthank. twenty-six grandchildren, seventy-eight great-grandchildren, thirteen great-great grandchildren and five on the way. She leaves behind a legacy of love and faith with her siblings Thomas (Mary) Black and Kathy Sue (Otis) Miles, as well as her son-in-law Devaun Rose.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Shirley's life at the Community Lighthouse Church of God. Visitation will be held on January 12, 2026, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.
