Steven (Steve) Wayne Chowning passed away on December 16, 2021, at the age of 64. He died in Cincinnati, Ohio after an extended battle with a terminal illness. He was the loving husband of 40-years to Lori (Mosteller) Chowning. He was the father of Amanda (Antony Miller) Chowning, Nick (Megan) Chowning and Ryan Chowning. He was the Paps "Grandfather" to Jack, Noah and Caleb Miller.
Steve was born in Jefferson, KY. He was the son of Nettie (Hutchinson) Gentry and Donald Chowning. He was the brother to Donald (Debbie) Chowning, Michael (Angela) Chowning and Teri Chowning.
Steve is survived by his mother and father-in-law John and Shirley (McBride) Mosteller. Brother in law's Terry (Carol) Mosteller, Brian (Hayley) Mosteller, and sister-in-law Melissa Mosteller (David Sedivy). As well as many extended family members who will miss him dearly.
Before Steve's illness took over Steve had a love for working out; he was constantly on a machine at home or exercising around the neighborhood. As Steve's diagnosis progressed, he turned his love for reading into listening to audio books and had an entire library in his garage that slowly spread throughout the house. Steve also enjoyed sharks and was always tuned in when Shark Week aired; in general, Steve loved animals and was always watching the National Geographic Channels. Steve had a sweet tooth and enjoyed trying every flavor of moon pies, peeps and marshmallow eggs made. Steve was an avid coffee drinker and enjoyed making a cup for his wife daily. Steve was a devoted family man, and nothing was more important to him than being a loving husband, father and Paps.
Steve is proceeded in death by his parents Nettie Gentry and Donald Chowning, stepmother Faye Chowning, daughter Amanda Chowning, brother Donald Chowning, brother-in-law Mark Mosteller.
There will not be a visitation. The family just experienced a recent passing of his daughter and given that the holidays are coming, they would prefer to have everyone spend time with their families. During your holiday family celebrations and gatherings, please remember Steve, this season, and honor him by playing one of his favorite songs, Amazing Grace, especially the version by IL Divo.
