Thomas Bowers

Thomas Neil Bowers, 83, passed away Monday, October 9, 2023. He was born March 30, 1940 in Parkersburg WV the son of James David Bowers and Genevieve Ritter Bowers. Mr. Bowers grew up in Oak Ridge, TN and moved to Cincinnati, OH in 1969 where he had a long career as a systems analyst retiring from GE Aircraft Engines in 2000. He was an original member of the parish of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Milford, OH and was very active in many aspects of the church. Mr. Bowers volunteered with several community organizations including Habitat for Humanity where, in addition to helping build houses in the Cincinnati area, he traveled with his wife around the country and the world to help bring housing to others. He served in the US Army 101st Airborne in the 1960’s and continued to be active with the General Ridgeway Chapter of the 82nd Airborne Association. Tom was a proud member of several Oak Ridge High School football and track State Championship Teams and the 1958 National championship football team that was inducted this past July into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame.

Tom was the beloved husband of Marilyn K. Bowers (nee Meredith). He was the loving father of Kathy (Todd) Oneacre and David (Lauren Ramsby) Bowers. He was a loving grandfather of Savannah (Garren) Bailey, Katie Oneacre and Colm Oneacre and great grandfather of Carter Jane Bailey and Kendall Bailey. Tom is also survived by his sister Christine Cartledge and her husband Jim and nieces and nephew.

Friends and family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church 5900 Buckwheat Rd., Milford, Ohio with visitation at church starting at 10 AM. Burial with Military Honors following Mass at Greenlawn Cemetery 687A US 50 Milford, Ohio.
