Thomas Earl Johnson, 74, passed away on September 21, 2024, in Cincinnati, OH.
Thomas Johnson was born on November 29, 1949, to Mark and Viola "Mae" (nee Haney) Johnson of Miamiville, Ohio.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Sandra Johnson; former wife and mother of his children, Janis (nee Williamson) Hester; children, Donovan Johnson and Joy (Paul) Helton; three stepdaughters, Jennifer (Terry) Crouch, Stephanie (Bob) Hines, and Kristina (Jeff) Grimm-Aubrey; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; his sister, Linda (Roland) Kankey; and special cousin, Judy (Danny) Cropper.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents; brother Robert (Phyllis) Johnson; and a grandson, Toby.
Tom graduated from Milford High School in 1968 where he played first chair trumpet in the band. He trained to be a medical lab technician with the United States Army during Vietnam from 1970-1974. He worked at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research in Washington DC with animals and doing medical research. He worked many years in the medical lab technician field and later had a long career in retail management. Tom was a workaholic and always passionate about his stores.
Tom loved his kids and grandkids and was excited to have great grandchildren before his passing. He really enjoyed bragging that one grandson graduated from the United States Military Academy. Tom loved to watch car races and car rehab shows. He had huge love for Corvettes - especially the memories of his dark blue 1968 Corvette he owned in the late 70s - he always dreamed of having another one. He loved working in the yard and was very proud of his plants. Tom enjoyed helping his neighbors with handy-man jobs. And you'd always find him drinking a Coca-Cola.
Tom loved his pets! Their dog, Casper, was a long-time buddy. Over the past 15+ years, he and Sandy had a succession of cats who chose to live with them. The last one, Allie, was a constant companion for Tom in these last few years when he wasn't feeling well.
