Thomas Robert Luce was born in Cincinnati Ohio on August 2nd, 1936. Tom was the son of Robert and Dorothy Luce (both deceased). He was married for 65 years to his beloved wife Barbara Ellen (Boykin) Luce. Tom and Barbara are parents of Thomas II (wife Nikki), Karen Church (husband Gerald), Steven Luce (deceased), and Diane Brauch (husband Wesley). Tom and Barbara have ten grandchildren: Brandon, Ryan, Gwendolyn, Dylan, Joshua, Kyle, Eric, Samantha, Joshua, Kristina and nine great-grandchildren.
Tom proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for an eight-year obligation. Tom was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 212 for 63 years. He worked at various companies throughout his career as a Project Engineer, including American Can Company in Vernon California, Peco Corporation in Mountain View California, Reynold’s Metals Company in Torrance California, Heekin Can Company in Cincinnati Ohio, and Ford Motor Company in Sharonville, Ohio. Tom retired from the Ford Motor Company in 2001 as an electrician in the Gears Department. Over the years Tom also taught many new union electricians in the IBEW Union apprenticeship program.
Tom spent much of his life pursuing his love of genealogy. He researched the Luce and Edwards family back to the Mayflower and beyond. He wrote and published numerous genealogy books detailing the facts he researched and discovered. Tom was also a founder of several DNA genealogy groups.
Tom was also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Society of Mayflower Descendants, Bethel American Legion Lodge 61, and the Bethel Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons.
