Todd Michael Gates

Todd Michael Gates, loving family man and consummate golden retriever dog enthusiast, passed away suddenly on Monday, August 3rd, at his office. He was working at his computer with his puppy, Clyde, by his side. He was 71. Todd was a graduate of Michigan State University and received his doctorate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He served in the United States Navy, and served as an officer in the Environmental Sciences Services Administration charting the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and other geological surveying. Todd was the president of T.M.Gates Inc., located in Milford, Ohio until his retirement in 2005. The company specialized in environmental clean-up. Favorite family vacations were spent at their cottage on Torch Lake, Michigan. The Gates recently spent a week in Hawaii celebrating their 50th anniversary with all their family. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan; daughter, Gail Zermeno (Ricardo); son, Patrick Gates (Kimberly); grandchildren Ricardo Zermeno, Jr., Raquel Zermeno, Madison Marquart, Christian Zermeno, Giovanni Zermeno, Nicholas Gates, Isabella Gates, Nathan Gates, a nephew Steven Dail, a niece Kristin Dail, and great niece Abbi Panks; Clyde,his golden retriever puppy; and his very special neighbors, the Vogts, as well as others who knew him as a compassionate and unique person.
