It is with deeply saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Vera Hodges, who left this world peacefully on March 17, 2025, at the age of 99. Born in Cincinnati on April 29, 1925, Vera was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, Godmother, sister, aunt, and cherished friend to many. Her spirit shone brightly in the lives of those she touched, a true people person whose calling in life was to be a caregiver. Vera dedicated herself to putting others first, embodying the essence of love and compassion in all that she did.
A devoted member of her church for 73 years, Vera found immense joy in her faith and the fellowship of her friends. Those who knew her will remember her laughter echoing through the hallways, her kind words always present, and the warmth she brought to every gathering. A lover of games, Vera enjoyed countless afternoons playing bridge, where she found joy with her friends no matter how the cards ran and left a jar filled with quarters won from Bingo winnings.
Vera leaves behind her loving son, Ralph E. Hodges, daughter in law, Diane Hodges, nieces, Diane (James) Ryer and Donna (Ron) Krell, nephew David Schuessler, Goddaughter, Judith Benatar and her special friends Chip and Rosie. Special thanks to all of her friends and helpers at SEM and Bethesda North. She will be deeply missed, yet her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A visitation will be held at Milford First United Methodist Church on March 24, 2025, beginning at 10:00 am, followed by a funeral service celebrating her life at 11:00 am. Vera will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery in Milford. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Gifts can be sent to the Milford First United Methodist Church 541 Main Street, Milford Ohio 45150.
In this time of sorrow, we invite all who knew Vera to come together to honor her remarkable life and to support one another in remembering the joy she brought into our lives.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Hodges, brother Robert Schuessler, sister in law, Dorthea Schuessler and niece, Diedre Schuessler
