It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Vernon Elwood Waugh on May 26, 2024. Born to Treevie and Minnie (nee Harper) Waugh in Logan, West Virginia on July 8, 1941, Vernon was a beloved and kind soul who touched the lives of many.
Vernon leaves behind his children Fletcher Waugh, Beth Wendel, and Anthony Beare; Loving grandfather to Shiann, Kevin, Kelsy, Jonathan, and Derrick; Great-grandfather of 7; Dear brother of Mary Alexander and Georgia Eldridge. He is also survived by the mother of his children and dear friend Mary McGovern. Vernon is preceded in death by his son Aaron Waugh and his brother John "Junior" Ivan.
Vernon, a talented lithographer in the printing industry, was known for his love of dancing, particularly the jitterbug, and his flair for crafting. His compassionate nature and willingness to lend a helping hand reflected the generosity that defined him. A true people person, Vernon never turned away from striking up conversations with strangers, always eager to share a laugh or a kind word. Vernon leaves behind a legacy of warmth and friendship that will be cherished by all who knew him. His absence will be deeply felt by his family and friends.
