It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Wayne Joseph Mason, who left us on August 31, 2026 while surrounded by love. Born on July 16, 1956, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Wayne filled each moment of his life with beauty and joy. He will be forever cherished by his beloved spouse Patty Sloane and his adoring family.
Wayne was a devoted father to Joseph Mason and a caring step-father to Jason and Justin Sloane. He was a proud grandfather to his precious grandchildren, Kayla Sloane, Ailani Sloane, and Hunter Mason, who were the lights of his life. He will also be remembered fondly by his siblings, Gayle Greatorex, Tonia Leppert, Darryl Mason, and Janice Mason as well as his many nieces and nephews.
A talented biomedical engineer, Wayne pursued his passion with determination as a self-employed professional. His work was an extension of his generous spirit, as he often shared his knowledge and skills with those around him. A proud veteran of the Air Force, he served his country with honor and dedication.
Wayne was a man of many passions. He was an enthusiastic fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and cherished his season tickets, delighting in the thrill of every game. He also found joy in cheering for the Cincinnati Reds, often spending time surrounded by family and friends as they celebrated the sport together. Vacations brought him immense joy, with Gatlinburg, Tennessee, holding a special place in his heart. Whether he was relaxing by his pool, swimming on warm summer days, or sharing a laugh through his witty jokes, Wayne filled the lives of those around him with warmth and laughter.
He was a kind and compassionate soul, always generous with his time, love, and expertise. His connections with his nieces and nephews were dear to him, and he took great joy in their lives as they grew. Music was the soundtrack of Wayne's life, and he loved to dance, embracing the rhythms of every era.
Wayne's Celebration of Life will take place on September 15, 2026, at Evans Funeral Home in Milford, where friends and family are invited to gather for visitation beginning at 10:00 AM, followed by the service at 11:30 AM. He will be laid to rest at 2:00 PM that same day at the Dayton National Cemetery, 4400 W. Third St, Dayton, OH.
As we remember Wayne, we hold tight to the memories of his humor, generosity, and spirit. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him.
