William (Bill) Roger Garner, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, peacefully passed away on July 13, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on September 27, 1954, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Bill was a steadfast presence in the lives of those who knew him.

An Army veteran who was a mechanic by trade, Bill dedicated his life to solving problems and helping others. He was a true handy man who used his deep knowledge and tireless hard work to mend not just vehicles, but also the hearts of those around him, always rolling up his sleeves for anyone in need.

Bill was deeply passionate about life. He found joy in boating with family, racing at Edgewater, and attending family get-togethers. At gatherings, he could be found enjoying his favorite bologna sandwich while controlling the playlist to ensure RUSH, his favorite band, was playing. His love for his family was unconditional, and his happiest moments were those spent making lasting memories with his children and grandkids. He is survived by his children Josh Garner, Candy (Greg) Duncan, Cory Ralph Hornsby, and Lindsey Hornsby and his grandchildren, Shelby (Shane) McGowan, Saleen (Conner) Ciccarella, Chelsie (Khol) Garner, Logan Garner, Brianna Garner, Laliah Meadows and Miranda Dick were the highlights of his life. He cherished being a great-grandfather to Julius, Anakin, Raiden, and Maddie. Bill was also survived by his girlfriend Linda Garner.

Bill is survived by his loving siblings, Donnie (Kim) Garner, Bobby (Lois) Garner, and Kaye (Al) Elkins, who will forever hold him in their hearts.

His family invites all those who knew and loved Bill to celebrate his life and legacy at Evans Funeral Home in Milford, where a visitation will take place on July 21, 2026, at 10:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. A final farewell will be held as he is laid to rest at Dayton National Cemetery.

In reflecting on his life, we remember a man who embraced the simple joys and the rich connections of family, who taught us to find happiness in the little things, and who will be profoundly missed by all. May his spirit continue to inspire us all to live fully and love deeply.

Bill was preceded in death by: his siblings Frank, Dale, Glen, Joe, & Sis Johnson, George Garner, Charlie Vanover and his parents George and Lucille Garner.
