William Louis Gastineau, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, a proud Army veteran, has passed away at the age of 95 on May 21, 2024. Born in Francesville, Indiana on February 16, 1929, William was a man of simple pleasures and unwavering faith.
William had a deep love for Jesus, which he carried with him in all aspects of his life. His infectious smile and kind heart touched all who were fortunate enough to know him. In his free time, William found solace in his garden, tending to his plants with care and passion. He found great joy in watching old Western movies and TV shows, and his laughter could often be heard as he watched his favorite comedy, "The Three Stooges." He also enjoyed spending days at Kings Island where he would "eat" his way around the park.
As a proud Army corporal, William served his country during the Korean War with honor and bravery. His dedication to his service was unwavering, and he held his fellow soldiers in the highest regard.
Throughout his life, William cherished his family above all else. He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Gastineau, devoted son Tim Gastineau, and caring daughter Tammy Gastineau. His grandchildren, Josh and Onna Gastineau and his five great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sisters; Glenda, Verna, and Ada.
The funeral service to honor William's life will be held at Edenton First Baptist Church on May 24, 2024, at 11:00 am. Prior to the service, a visitation will take place at the church at 10:00 am. Friends, family, and fellow servicemen are invited to join in celebrating the life of William Louis Gastineau, a man whose legacy of love and faith will forever be remembered. Burial with military honors will immediately follow at Graceland Memorial Gardens.
