William "Bill" Homer Singleton, a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025, at the age of 100, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on June 30, 1924, in Brodhead, Kentucky, to Homer and Flora Singleton, Bill was the eldest of five siblings: Kenneth, Ray, Harley, and Joyce ("Boots"). In 1929, the Singleton family relocated to Camp Dennison, Ohio, where Bill attended school in Camp Dennison and Terrace Park.
In 1943, Bill was drafted into the Army Air Corps during World War II. As a nose gunner and bombardier, he bravely served his country and flew 233 combat hours, including on D-Day, June 6, 1944.
On August 4, 1945, Bill married Vivian Gay Fuller. Together they built a life in Milford, Ohio, raising five children: Linda, Mike, Bruce, Cindy, and Tami. In 1946, Bill began working for Carl Eckman in the produce business. After the Castellini Warehouse fire in 1968 ended Eckman's operations, Bill purchased the remaining assets and founded Singleton & Sons. He successfully ran the business until retiring in 1982 at age 58.
Bill was an active member of the American Legion and the Masons of Ohio. He enjoyed playing cards, golfing, fishing trips with friends, and buying and selling real estate. Above all else, he cherished time spent caring for his children and grandchildren.
After the passing of his first wife Gay, Bill found love again with Anne West. Their two decades together were filled with joy and companionship.
Bill is survived by daughters Linda Willis, Cindy Miller, and Tami (Bert) Adams; grandchildren Brigitte (Mike), Nikki (Travis), Ali (Joe), Justin, Kristi (Josh), Abby, Miles, Ross (Lauren), Zachary (Morgan), and Lily (Michele); 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
