William J. Miller

December 21, 1947 — March 4, 2025

With a heavy heart, we want to share the passing of William J. Miller. He was a man of strength, wisdom, and deep devotion -to his family, country, his craft, and his music. A decorated soldier and a captain in the U.S. Army, he served with honor and courage. He was also a former commander of VFW post 5354. As a skilled stone mason, he built with both his hands and his heart, leaving behind lasting works of beauty. And as a musician, he filled the world with melodies that reflected his soul. But more than anything, he was a storyteller -his life was filled with experiences that could captivate anyone who listened. He had a way of making history come alive through his words, sharing lessons, laughter, and the depth of his experiences with all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the stories he shared, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Miller; children Heidi Davidson, Heather Gibson, Melissa Chan, William J. Miller, II, Benjamin Z. Miller, McKenzie Roper, and Mason Morgan; grandchildren Isaac, Liam, Bailey, Hollice, Evelyn, Gabe, and Tori; nieces and nephews Chelsea Miller, Olivia Miller, DJ Morton, William Morton, Dylan Morton; grandnephews Theo and Oliver; and his fur buddy Milo. Bill will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Rest easy, Dad. You were one of a kind.
